A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 30-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a van.

Nottinghamshire Police said it happened in Eastgate, Worksop, shortly before 20:00 BST on Wednesday.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she remains, and the man, 24, is in police custody.

The force said it wanted to speak to witnesses who had not yet come forward, including several motorists who passed the scene shortly afterwards.

Det Sgt Alan Braisby said: “The victim in this case remains in hospital with serious injures and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident.

“Any information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – may prove vital to this investigation.”
