A teenage girl has been arrested after a woman died inside a house in Swindon.

Police officers found a woman who was not breathing when they arrived at the house in Baydon Close, Moredon, at about 19:00 GMT on Friday after receiving a report of a disorder.

The woman, who was in her 50s and lived at the address, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

A teenage girl was later arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody for questioning, Wiltshire Police said.

A spokesperson for the force said there were no other reported injuries and a cordon had been set up at the property while investigations continue.

Det Insp Darren Ambrose said: "This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died."

He said the force was not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and encouraged people not to speculate about the circumstances.

"We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to speak to an officer," he added.
