Plans for a new hospital extension in Surrey are due to be decided on Wednesday.

East Surrey Hospital, in Redhill, has submitted a planning application for a three-storey extension to the main hospital building.

The extension could include dental treatment areas and two operating theatres, and would replace a temporary single-storey building.

The plans are recommended for approval.

The building is planned in an area between the main hospital building and the children’s nursery, in the south of the East Surrey Hospital site, according to planning documents, external.

Air cooling units and extractor fans would be housed on the top floor, screened by acoustic panels.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's planning committee is due to make its decision at a meeting taking place at 19:30 BST.
