Thousands of motorsport fans are set to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Formula 1.

The Silverstone Festival at the circuit in Northamptonshire is held over the August bank holiday weekend, and features displays of racing history and entertainment.

Here is everything you need to know about the event.

What is the Silverstone Festival?

The Silverstone Festival is an annual celebration of motorsport, that regularly attracts close to 800 race entries and draws crowds of more than 100,000.

It is staged at the Silverstone circuit, the birthplace of the FIA Formula One World Championship and home to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

This year marks 75 years since the first Formula 1 World Championship race was held at Silverstone in 1950.

A central display will feature cars that have been raced by all 34 world drivers' champions.

Over two-thirds of the cars are originals from the champions' winning seasons, including Giuseppe Farina's Alfa Romeo 158 and Max Verstappen's 2022 Red Bull RB18.

The Silverstone Festival runs from 22-24 August.
