A Shropshire-based charity has raised more than £800,000 in 36 hours for its latest fundraising campaign.

Hope House Children's Hospices has sites in Oswestry and Conwy, and helps children who have life-threatening conditions, as well as supporting their families.

Its latest campaign, Quality Moments Matter, took place over 23 and 24 November and saw every donation given by the public doubled due to match funding from local businesses.

The money will be put towards activities for the children, like therapeutic art sessions, animal visits, and hydrotherapy sessions.

The final total at the end of the campaign was £811, 379.

"We needed to raise an additional £500,000 to provide even more quality moments that bring fun and joy to every child across Shropshire and Wales – but thanks to the generosity of the public and businesses we have smashed through that total," said Alison Marsh, the charity's head of fundraising.

"This money means we can provide even more extra quality activities and therapeutic play.

"We want all children with life-threatening conditions to have access to adventures and the chance to giggle, play and thrive, and imagine what a difference all this money is going to make to so many children and families."

Hope House supports more than 750 families who are either caring for a terminally ill child, or whose child has died, and costs more than £10m a year to run its services.
