Weekly kerbside collections for food waste will be rolled out across a Berkshire borough following a year-long trial.

Slough Borough Council has trialled using food caddies in five areas, and homes will receive them over coming months to cut the amount of food waste in general rubbish.

Residents living in 10,000 houses are expected to receive theirs by the end of the year, while 30,000 will get theirs by the end of March 2026. All flats should have them in April 2026.

The authority said about 40% of its general refuse collections was food waste but that collecting the latter was about 10% cheaper.
