Business leaders in Jersey have warned the government about bringing in further laws to help workers who have families.

Jersey Chamber of Commerce said its recent study showed many companies were facing higher costs and difficulties meeting requests for leave and flexible-working hours due to family friendly employment rules.

The chamber's chief executive Murray Norton said while the group welcomed improvement in staff morale from the flexibility, businesses must be allowed to work effectively.

A States of Jersey spokesperson said a scrutiny review into the impact of family friendly legislation on businesses was already under way and the findings would be reported when complete.
