Plans to turn an empty Preston office block into "holiday flats" have been approved.

Five will be created from in the building on Fishergate, opposite County Hall, after city planners said they would be "beneficial for tourists and visitors".

But objectors said they were concerned what the flats - which would share a communal kitchen and lounge on the ground floor - might eventually be used for.

Preston City Council said the flats would not create "unacceptable levels of noise" and the loss of office space was not an issue.
