Slip roads at a junction of the M1 in Derbyshire will close overnight for three months for "essential maintenance".

The work at junction 25 of the motorway, for Nottingham and Derby, is due to start on 17 February and is scheduled to run until "mid-May".

National Highways said a new roadside barrier would be installed, traffic signals upgraded, and new fencing and signs put in place.

During the works, the entry and exit slip roads will be closed between 20:00 GMT and 06:00 Monday to Friday.

Drivers will be diverted to other motorway junctions during the closures.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "To minimise disruption we are only working overnight Monday to Friday when we know the roads are quieter.

"We appreciate roadworks can cause some disruption and are grateful to people for their understanding as this important maintenance work is undertaken."
