A woman and a teenage boy have been arrested after about 200 illegal vapes, believed to be intended for sale to children, were recovered from a property.

A total of £5,000 in cash, vape liquid, cannabis and THC oil - which is known for its psychoactive effects - were also found during the search of a home on Highstone Crescent in Barnsley on Monday, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Vapes containing THC were thought to have been produced at the property and were then being sold on to children, a force spokesperson said.

The boy, 14, together with a 32-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and had been bailed pending further inquiries, they added.

Insp Rebecca Richardson said: "It is extremely concerning these vapes have been making their way in to the hands of children in our district.

"Not only are they illegal, but they can cause serious health concerns."

Insp Richardson said officers had acted "swiftly" to execute the warrant after the alleged offences were reported by members of the public.
