A man has been left critically injured after being assaulted by two burglars in his own home, police have said.

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Tenby Road, Keynsham, at about 01:30 GMT on 3 November.

The victim told officers he had opened the door to two men, who barged into the property and assaulted him before leaving with alcohol and mobile phones.

Paramedics attended the incident before calling police at around 03:00, with the man's condition worsening after being admitted to hospital.

Officers described him as being in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Descriptions have been issued of the two suspects, with the first offender described as being in his early 30s, white and clean shaven with brown hair. He was dressed casually, and wearing blue jeans.

The second was described as being a white man in his early 20s, around six feet tall and slim with dark hair. Police said he was dressed in black and was wearing a mask.

Det Sgt Nina Wilson said: “We’ve carried out a number of fast-track enquiries and now need help from the community to find those responsible.

"I’d like to reassure people that there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public. If you have any information, dashcam or other footage which could help the investigation, we want to hear from you.”
