Jersey deputy Philip Ozouf has been fined for driving at more than double the speed limit in a 15mph zone and failing to show a valid motor insurance disc, a court has heard.

Appearing at the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday Ozouf admitted doing 31mph (50km/h) on Les Ruisseaux on 2 November last year.

The magistrates heard how the officer who stopped him noticed his disc had expired in June 2023.

Ozouf apologised to the court for the offences, and for missing a parish hall inquiry.

Magistrate Adam Clark accepted the situation with the disc was an "oversight" and the deputy had been insured at the time.

He was fined £275 for speeding and a further £300 for not having a valid insurance disc.
