Firefighters tackle large blaze near railway station

Fire crews well called to garages near Station Road in Cowdenbeath

One person was taken to hospital after a fire at garages near Cowdenbeath railway station which caused disruption for residents and commuters.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were sent to the scene on Station Road just after 16:30 on Wednesday.

One patient was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

ScotRail said the line between Inverkeithing and Cowdenbeath was blocked by the incident with disruption and delays to services.

Police Scotland said a number of properties in the area were also evacuated as a precaution during the fire, which was not being treated as suspicious.

High Street, Foulford Street, Stenhouse Street and Station Road were closed but have now been reopened.
