Stretch of busy M69 to close for maintenance work
- Published
A section of motorway in Leicestershire is to close for essential maintenance work, highways bosses have said.
Drivers have been warned to expect disruption along the M69 as work is carried out on the eastbound carriageway from junction 1 at Hinckley to junction 21 of the M1 at Whetstone.
The works were originally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, but will now take place between 31 January and 3 February.
National Highways said it would try to make sure access to businesses and residences was maintained wherever possible.
The works along the 17-mile stretch of road, which runs between Coventry and Leicester, include the completion of road lining such as road markings and road studs, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The installation of a high-friction surface – a material applied to roads to improve skid resistance and safety – will also take place.
National Highways said it would also be installing one set of loops which will monitor traffic flow.
The authority said fully-signed diversion routes would be available throughout the duration of the works.
The closure will be in place between 20:00 GMT and 06:00, across 31 January to 3 February.
