Man, 80, hit by Jeep 'fighting for life'

A man in his 80s has been left "fighting for his life" after he was hit by a Jeep while crossing a road, police have said.
The crash happened on Barbers Avenue, at the junction of Netherfield Lane in Rawmarsh, Rotherham, on Wednesday evening.
The man had been crossing the road from the direction of the park on Netherfield Lane when he was hit by a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, South Yorkshire Police said.
The force said he was taken to hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
It added: "We’re appealing for witnesses, dashcam and information following a road traffic collision that has left an elderly man fighting for his life."
The driver of the Jeep remained on scene to assist officers with their inquiries.
