Crews battle fire at derelict shoe factory

Firefighters are at the scene of a blaze in the former Van-Dal shoe factory on Dibden Road

Fire crews have been battling flames at a large derelict building.

The incident was reported on Monday evening at a property in Dibden Road, Norwich - believed to be the former Van-Dal shoe factory.

Footage of the blaze, seen by the BBC, showed both firefighters and police officers at the scene.

"Please keep all doors and windows closed due to a large smoke plume," Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said.

Residents have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed

Emergency services were called to Dibden Road on Monday evening

Firefighters attended a blaze at the same location last April.

The closure of the facility, Norwich's last remaining shoe factory, was announced in 2018.

The factory has been disused for some years
