Fire tackled in unfinished house at building site

Crews were called to a "large fire" on Friday night at Wixams, south of Bedford

A fire broke out overnight at an unfinished house on a building site.

Crews were called to Four Acre Drive in Wixams, near Bedford, at 21:54 BST on Thursday.

An aerial platform was used to tackle the blaze in the building, that did not yet have windows or doors and was surrounded by scaffolding.

Bedfordshire Fire Service posted on Facebook, external: "There are a number of fire engines at the scene so please avoid the area."

Nobody was injured according to Bedfordshire Police, which is investigating the fire.
