A man has been found guilty of raping a child under 13.

A jury at Winchester Crown Court found Alexander Franczyk, of Pritchard Close in Swindon, guilty of 13 sexual offences on Tuesday.

The charges included multiple incidents of rape, one incident of attempted rape, multiple assaults by penetration and multiple sexual assaults.

Calling it a "deeply upsetting case", Det Con Sarah Pollock, from Wiltshire Police, commended the "incredible bravery" of the two victims who reported the crimes "after suffering several years of abuse".

Franczyk, 58, had already pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children and is due to be sentenced on 22 October at the Old Bailey.

Det Con Pollock said she hoped his victims could "now start to rebuild their lives, safe in the knowledge that Franczyk will now face a significant custodial sentence".
