Child rape accused appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with 14 sexual offences against a child.

Ralph Milton, 61, of Mount Avenue, Pontefract, did not enter a plea during the brief hearing at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He has been charged with four counts of rape, seven counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by penetration, two offences of sexual assault on a female, and the assault of a girl under the age of 13 by sexual touching.

Mr Milton was granted unconditional bail ahead of his appearance at Leeds Crown Court on 17 September.

All of the alleged offences related to the same complainant, the court was told.
