Ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and England have resumed after disruption due to gales over the Irish Sea.

The fast craft Manannan set sail for Liverpool at 16:30 BST after the morning crossing and its return were cancelled.

The flagship vessel Manxman’s 08:45 journey to Heysham along with its afternoon return were also scrapped due to the conditions.

However, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said its 20:15 trip to the Lancashire port would depart as scheduled.

The island’s ferry sailings have faced significant disruption over the past week, with several journeys cancelled or delayed due to severe gales.

The Manxman was also left temporarily out of action on Wednesday after suffering damage while docking at Heysham Port in the early hours.
