Archaeological finds from a community dig in Boston are to go on show.

Hundreds of pieces of pottery, glass, brick, tile, metalwork and shells were found during a two-week dig in Rosegarth in October 2024. There were also 500 pieces of animal bone or fragments found, leading experts to suggest a medieval abattoir may have operated in the area.

The artefacts, which have been cleaned, historically verified and documented, will go on display at Boston Guildhall from Friday 29 August until the end of the year.

Boston Borough Council said the exhibition would allow visitors to learn about the community dig and handle some of the finds.

Volunteers joined forces with primary school students from St Thomas' Academy in Boston to discover what lay beneath the ground in Rosegarth Square.

Councillor Sarah Sharpe, portfolio holder for heritage, culture and tourism, said: "The dig was a truly inspiring event that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds, united by a shared interest in archaeology and Boston's wonderful heritage.

"Each item tells a story, and together they help paint a vivid picture of the lives and landscapes that shaped our community."
