Two men charged over M8 crash with unmarked police car

Two men have been charged with road traffic offences after a serious crash on the M8 in Glasgow last month which left seven people in hospital.
It involved a Mercedes A45 which collided with an unmarked police car and another Mercedes on the hard shoulder, near junction 13 for Provan.
Two male police officers were among the seven people taken to hospital following the crash which happened on 24 July.
A 48-year-old police officer and a 43-year-old man remain in hospital, a month on. They are both said to be in a stable condition.
A second officer, aged 38, and a 31-year-old man were also taken to hospital and were discharged after treatment.
Another three men, aged 27, 33 and 39, who were travelling in the Mercedes A45, were also released following treatment.
A 27-year-old man who left the scene was arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences shortly after the incident. On Wednesday, police confirmed a 27-year-old man had now been charged.
He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.
A second man, aged 33, has also been charged in connection with road traffic offences and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
