Fire cadets have raised more than £3,000 in honour of three people who died in a fire at a business park.

The cadets from Bicester Fire Station took part in a charity bike ride around Oxfordshire in memory of firefighters Jen Logan and Martyn Sadler.

A member of the public, Dave Chester, also died in the fire at a hanger on the Bicester Motion site on 15 May.

Bicester Fire Station said: "Huge congratulations to the team for raising vital funds."

The Oxfordshire cadets surpassed their £2,000 target for the Firefighters Charity, external, which provides care and support for the UK's "fire family" during and after service.

They cycled between fire stations across the county in the "Pedal for Purpose" challenge.

"Every mile we rode was a tribute to our fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice," they said.

They added: "It was tough at times but knowing we were riding for a cause so close to our hearts kept us going. It was a challenge we were all proud to have done."

Bicester Fire Station praised their "dedication and teamwork" which had "raised vital funds" and thanked everyone who had supported them.

Mr Sadler worked as a retained firefighter for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and London Fire Brigade, having joined the cadets programme aged 14.

He started his wholetime firefighter training with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, working in Slough, Langley and Maidenhead, before moving to the London Fire Brigade in May 2022.

Ms Logan also ran her own dog breeding business and had shown at Crufts. She and Mr Sadler were both members at Bicester Rugby Club.

Two other firefighters sustained serious injuries in the fire and were later discharged from hospital.
