Staff at a shop in Hull were allegedly threatened with a knife by a man who had entered the shop to commit a robbery, police said.

Humberside Police were called to reports of a robbery at 00:45 GMT on Monday at a shop in Stoneferry Road.

A 44-year-old man was charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and wounding with intent, a force spokesperson said.

He was due to appear before Hull Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
