The mother of one of footballer Cody Fisher's murderers has been sentenced for attempting to help her son try to escape to Jamaica.
Jahzeen Carpenter, 40, was sentenced on Wednesday to two years' imprisonment, suspended for two years, after being found guilty of assisting an offender.
Her son, Kami, and Remy Gordon were jailed for life last year after stabbing Mr Fisher, 23, to death on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham, on Boxing Day 2022.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that the day after the murder Jahzeen Carpenter, of Peak Drive, Lower Gornal, drove to London, where her son Kami was later found with suitcases of clothes.
The pair were then arrested outside flats in Lewisham on the morning of 28 December, and officers seized more than £5,000 in cash from her Mercedes convertible.
An examination of Jahzeen Carpenter's phone later revealed she had researched a flight from Gatwick Airport to Kingston, Jamaica, which her son had booked and was due to take later that day.

Mr Fisher was a semi-professional footballer and had taught PE in schools
Det Insp Phil Poole, from West Midlands Police, said Mr Fisher's loved ones had been devastated by his murder and were still struggling to come to terms with their loss.
"While his family were grieving, Carpenter's mother was trying to help her son avoid capture and flee to Jamaica, which would have severely hampered our investigation and delayed justice," he said.
