Wi-fi-controlled padel courts to open in a car park

Four new wi-fi-controlled padel courts will be built in a retail park.
Peterborough City Council approved plans for four covered padel courts, with floodlights, at Peterborough One Retail Park off Eye Road.
Pulse Padel's website said the courts would be available to use, external between 07:00 and 23:00 daily, with an aim to open the site by the end of 2025.
In his application, James Jones of Pulse Padel stated that the courts would "offer all year access to a fun and healthy activity and provide a positive impact on the area".

The four courts will be part of an existing car park
The site will include full adults and children's group coaching, one-to-one social day and evening club sessions, leagues, tournaments and hosted events.
It lies within the car park owned by the Blue Diamond garden centre, located opposite the Aldi supermarket, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Courts will be accessed via an automated wi-fi-controlled keypad gate system which players can receive a code for after booking online.
This system will also provide automatic control of the low-energy LED floodlights, which will go on and off in line with bookings.
Mr Jones' planning application received 12 representations in support, with just one objection relating to access concerns.
This is the second set of courts approved for the city, following another site which was given planning permission next to Stanground Academy.
