Drivers have been warned of long delays on the M62 in West Yorkshire after a van crashed into the central reservation.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 22 at Saddleworth and junction 23 at Huddersfield just before 11:30 BST on Monday, National Highways said.

It came as the Met Office had a "yellow" weather warning in place for strong winds, and as heavy rain at times battered the region.

The motorway was closed in both directions while emergency services were called to the scene, but two out of three lanes had since re-opened both ways, according to National Highways.

In an update at about 16:30 BST, National Highways warned drivers to expect delays of about an hour on the westbound carriageway and of about 35 minutes eastbound.

Repairs were being made to the central reservation barrier, the organisation said.

No-one is believed to have been injured in the crash.
