Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman was assaulted by an intruder who tried to force his way into her home in central London.
The woman encountered a person unknown to her in the corridor of her apartment building on New Cavendish Street, Westminster, at about 23:40 BST on 30 July, the Met Police said.
After challenging him, the man followed her into her flat, where he placed his hand over her mouth and tried to force his way in. The victim's partner – who was inside the flat – chased the intruder off, the force added.
Det Con Chunjie Zang said the "highly alarming incident" left the victim and her family in distress.
"Nobody should face such a threat in their own home. We can confirm that no similar incidents have been reported in the area, but we are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice," Det Con Zang added.

The force said the man was later seen in a brown hoodie
The Met said it wanted to speak to the man in the CCTV images, who was described as white, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall and balding.
He was wearing a grey T-shirt and blue jeans and was later filmed wearing a brown hoodie.
The force said the man spoke with a non-British accent which was possibly Scandinavian, Australian or from New Zealand.
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact police.
