Derelict building could become health centre

A derelict building in Bradford could become a health centre if new plans are approved.
Standard Health Group, which provides orthopaedic NHS care, plans to open the new facility on Filey Street, off Shipley Airedale Road.
The Kingfisher Orthopaedic Centre would be a "transformative step in addressing the demand for enhanced medical facilities" in the district, the group said.
A planning application for Kingfisher House, which once housed offices for the Royal Bank of Scotland, has been sent to Bradford Council and a decision is expected in February.
In recent years the building was stripped down to make way for a number of developments that have failed to materialise, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.
Plans for the medical centre include 43 parking spaces and 12 cycle parking spaces.
The planning application reads: "The redesign of the existing building will be a new state-of-the-art medical facility that will accommodate a new theatre suite, diagnostics, day surgery and supporting facilities.
"The centre is dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare services."
It adds: "The current condition of the structure is sound but with the need to be redesigned and brought back to life."
The LDRS contacted Standard Health Group for more detail on how much is being invested in the site and how many jobs it will create, but is yet to receive a response.
