A man has admitted causing the death of a pedestrian and seriously injuring another when he struck them while driving in Leicester.
Anthony Haynes, 66, was taken to hospital after he was hit by a blue Volkswagen Jetta in Oronsay Road, Beaumont Leys, just after 10:30 BST on 12 September and died from his injuries 11 days later.
His carer Rachael Newton, 56, suffered life-changing injuries and is still recovering, said Leicestershire Police.
Ryan Skelton, 23, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Skelton, of Granville Road, in Wigston, is due to be sentenced at the same court on 9 January.
Det Con Madeleine Hayes said: "While no sentence will bring Mr Haynes back, I hope that his family and friends will take some relief from the fact they will not have to sit through a trial and get the justice that they deserve."
