A police officer has been barred from the profession after writing a "Game of Thrones-style" report about a case.

Kamran Aziz, who had been employed by Nottinghamshire Police since January 2019, was asked to assess evidence in a case and write a report to be provided to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The force said the report contained "sexualised and derogatory comments" written in the style of the popular fantasy drama books and television show.

On Friday, PC Aziz was dismissed from the force and placed on the barred list after being found guilty of gross misconduct.

'Regret and shame'

A gross misconduct hearing was told PC Aziz's report contained "'inappropriate, derogatory and sexualised language", with references made to himself, colleagues, members of the public, and a police custody suite.

The force said the officer claimed he wrote the document in a "farcical Game of Thrones-style to emphasise his belief that the case was not strong enough to go to court".

However, his colleagues told an investigation into his conduct that his language in the report was "shocking and difficult to put into words".

The investigation found PC Aziz breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to "authority, respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, discreditable conduct, orders and instructions", the force said.

PC Aziz expressed "regret and shame" for his actions, the force added.

Temporary Chief Constable Steve Cooper, who chaired the misconduct hearing, said: "Members of the public should have complete trust and confidence in the police and any breach of this will be investigated thoroughly.

"The language used is completely inexcusable and has no place whatsoever in Nottinghamshire Police."
