A greenhouse on the grounds of Jersey's Government House could be knocked down to make more parking spaces.

A planning application to demolish the 19th Century building on St Saviours Hill has been submitted on behalf of the lieutenant-governor.

Experts said the greenhouse, which is attached to a granite wall, was in such a bad state of repair that it was affecting the integrity of the wall.

The application, which has been classed as minor, seeks to level the ground and extend the parking area, repoint and repair the wall, and conduct shoring works to the existing potting shed.

The government's website, external said planning staff had a target to determine 85% of minor applications within eight weeks.
