Overnight Orwell Bridge lane closures announced

National Highways said it had some remaining tasks to complete on the Orwell Bridge following weeks of works in the summer

Motorists are being warned of overnight lane closures on a major bridge to finish off essential works.
National Highways replaced two expansion joints of the Orwell Bridge, on the A14 near Ipswich, between June and August.
While the main work was completed ahead of schedule, the organisation said it now needed to finish some remaining tasks, resulting in overnight closures.
A National Highways spokesperson thanked drivers for their patience and understanding.
The overnight closures will be in force between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT on the following dates:
Monday, 17 November to Wednesday, 19 November - overnight lane closure on the westbound carriageway
Thursday, 20 November and Friday 21 November - overnight lane closure on both carriageways
Monday, 24 November to Thursday, 27 November - overnight lane closure on the westbound carriageway
The work in the summer replaced the westbound carriageway's two expansion joints which help accommodate movement within the bridge.
National Highways said the project would cost £6m and in the future it would look to replace the eastbound carriageway joints.
