Jubilee Gardens, which was opened in 1937, is Cleveleys' largest park

Residents have been invited to suggest ideas about how to make a seafront green space "active, beautiful and nature-rich".

Wyre Council is planning to revive Jubilee Gardens, on North Promenade in Cleveleys, Lancashire, which has been partly closed for two years during a £40m coastal defence project.

A public consultation, running for four weeks from 20 October, will give people the opportunity to share their ideas and any concerns in an online survey, workshops and drop-in sessions.

The three hectare (seven acre) site is currently home to a multi-use games court, skate park, youth shelter and children's play area, bowling club, large open fields and a car park.

The car park and some of Jubilee Gardens' green space have been closed to the public since 2023 to accommodate a building site compound during work on the beach management and flood defence scheme.

That work is due to be completed next year.

The council is now looking at how it can reinstate the works compound area from the summer of 2026.

Councillor Simon Bridge said: "This is a chance to create a space that reflects the community's priorities - not just restoring what was there, but improving it for future generations."

Residents, businesses and community groups are invited to join a drop-in session at the Care for Cleveleys shop on Princess Road on Wednesday 22 October from 15:00 BST.

Jubilee Gardens is Cleveleys' largest park and was first opened in 1937.

The council plans to open the redeveloped space to coincide with the garden's 90th anniversary in 2027.
