Parts of the East of England have woken to snow as the first winter cold snap has taken hold.

Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire have seen the heaviest snow - particularly over higher ground - while snow has also settled in Norfolk and Essex.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, external of difficult travelling conditions in the region on Tuesday evening, overnight and into Wednesday morning.

The conditions have so far seen Grendon Underwood Combined School in Buckinghamshire closed, external.

Greater Anglia trains have been delayed between Kennett and Cambridge due to signalling problems.

Services can still run, but the operator said they would be disrupted.
