A fire at a park was started deliberately by youngsters, police said.

Officers from Rugeley Neighbourhood Policing Team and firefighters tackled the fire at Brereton Park on Sunday.

They said the fire took hold in the memorial garden within a woodland area but did not spread to nearby trees and shrubbery.

Officers will be reviewing CCTV in the area, they added, to identify those involved. They said patrols in the area would increase in response to a rise in anti-social behaviour.

People with information about the fire or ASB are urged to contact police.
