Disciplinary proceedings against a former student police officer previously charged with misconduct in a public office have been dropped.

Caitlin Howarth, 25, was charged after it was alleged she had had "a relationship with a notifiable association with criminal connections".

She appeared before magistrates in April 2024 over the allegation, but the case was later dropped when the Crown Prosecution Service said it did not intend to pursue the charge and she was acquitted.

Ms Howarth, who worked in Bradford, had still been due to face internal misconduct proceedings however West Yorkshire Police said it too had shelved the case in light of an internal review.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A review of the misconduct matters took place following Ms Howarth's acquittal.

"This established there was no case to answer."
