A dog has been seized and destroyed after it bit a young girl on her arm.

Essex Police was called to a property on Eastern Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, on Saturday when a dog injured a girl's arm at about 21:35 BST.

Officers said the dog was not an XL Bully and the girl's injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

An Essex Police spokesperson said no arrests were made and an investigation had been launched.
