Fire rages at derelict former school building

Firefighters are tackling the blaze at the Moira House School buildings in Eastbourne

Dozens of firefighters are tackling a blaze at a former school building in Eastbourne.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said it sent eight fire engines to the derelict property in Upper Carlisle Road at about 17:45 BST on Sunday.

Sussex Police said officers were assisting firefighters with the blaze at the former Moira House School buildings.

Local residents have been urged to avoid the area and keep their windows closed.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Carlisle Road and Link Road are currently closed, police added.
