A community bus service has offered late night shopping trips in the run-up to Christmas.

Shopping UnLtd said its minibus would run trips to St Peter Port on 4 and 11 December to enable disabled and elderly islanders to take part in late night shopping evenings.

The charity's development manager Tim Freak said the service would help people choose gifts for their friends and family "with dignity and independence".

The minibus would fetch shoppers from their homes, take them to Market Square at 17:50 GMT and collect them at 20:00, he added.
