The youngest person with Down's Syndrome to complete a marathon is taking on a new challenge to raise money for BBC's Children in Need.

Lloyd Martin, 21, has joined The One Show's challenge squad, which is a group of four young people who have benefitted from Children in Need funding and are now taking on challenges to help make a difference.

Mr Martin, from Surrey, is planning to do a triathlon over three days at the Olympic Park in London.

He said:  "I want to show the world what I can do, and that people with Down's Syndrome can do anything if they have support."

Mr Martin is an ambassador for Stepping Stones DS, which helps young people with Down's Syndrome across south east Berkshire, north Hampshire, and west Surrey and is part-funded by Children in Need.

"They have helped me grow in confidence and get the most out of life," he said.

"I want to show the world that if you follow your dreams, and have the right support, anything is possible."

Growing up, Mr Martin overcame significant health challenges including a hole in his heart and leg surgeries.

But in 2024 he became the youngest person with Down's syndrome to complete a marathon.

The One Show's Alex Jones is mentoring Mr Martin ahead of his challenge.

She said: "These young people are truly remarkable - full of courage and determination.

"I'm so proud to be working with them and helping to share their stories with the nation.

"The challenges they're taking on are no small feat, but we know they'll each give it everything they've got."
