A man has been convicted of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility after a stabbing.

Calvin Olawale Babatunde, 48, died with stab wounds in his home on Fen Street, Milton Keynes, at about 19:10 GMT on 25 January 2024.

Thames Valley Police said his neighbour Jay Lupton, 25, was seen leaving the scene on CCTV and his DNA was found on a knife found inside the flat.

At Luton Crown Court on Wednesday, Lupton pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility, he is due to be sentenced at the same court on 28 February.

Lupton was charged by police with murder, four days after Mr Babatunde was killed, but entered the diminished responsibility plea which was accepted by the court and the prosecution.

Det Insp Alice Broad of the major crime unit said the two men were friends but "this friendship had deteriorated in the months leading to Calvin's death".

She added: "Lupton went to Calvin's property and without provocation attacked him with a knife."

"Calvin was killed in the place he should have felt safest, his home, and by Lupton, who he had supported and helped while they were both living in Fen Street."
