Park and ride to return to weekdays
- Published
A park and ride bus service is set to return to weekdays for the first time since Covid.
The 500 bus from Winnersh Triangle to Reading has been running as a trial on Saturdays only, since the autumn.
The service was halted after a drop in passengers following the Covid lockdowns, and for work to expand the car park at Winnersh Triangle.
Reading Buses will now operate the service every 15 minutes, Monday to Saturday, from Monday.
Using the new London Road bus lane the journey on gas-powered buses will take about 12-15 minutes.
Buses will run between 06:45 and 18:00, Monday to Friday, and between 08:00 and 18:00 on Saturdays.
Reading Borough Council said return fares would be £1 into the town, including parking, for a limited period.
The authority said it was temporarily subsidising the relaunched route through funding secured from the Department for Transport, as part of the council's bus service improvement plan.
