The family of a man killed when the quad bike he was riding crashed with a car and lorry said he was a "beacon of light in all our lives".

Rhys Antonio McDonald, 31, crashed on Oldbury Road in Rowley Regis, Sandwell, on the evening of 23 August.

The drivers of the car and the lorry were not injured, West Midlands Police said previously.

Paying tribute, Mr McDonald's family said he was a "loving father" to his seven-year-old daughter, who was "his best friend and the centre of his world".

'Friend to everyone'

"His absence leaves a void that can never be filled," his family said in a statement.

Mr McDonald was known for his "infectious positivity, kindness and ever-present smile", they added.

“He was more than just a son, a brother and a father, he was a friend to everyone who knew him."

Det Sgt Rich Evans appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

"We would particularly urge the rider of a second quad bike who was in the vicinity of the collision at the time to come forward and speak to us," he said.

"They didn’t wait at the scene and we believe they will hold valuable information regarding the circumstances of the collision."
