A woman who attacked a man's home with a hammer and mallet has been jailed.

Patricia Barron, 65, caused damage to the door and window of the property during the incident in Grafton Street, Barnsley, on 27 March.

When questioned by police, she initially claimed footage of her carrying the hammer had been doctored using computer-generated imagery to artificially place the weapon in her hand.

Barron, of Grafton Street, was jailed for six months and given a three-year restraining order after pleading guilty at Barnsley Magistrates' Court to two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and one count of criminal damage.

She was also ordered to pay £1,669 in compensation.
