A new wellbeing café has opened in a city hospital to promote healthy eating to staff, patients and visitors.

Peterborough City Hospital recently unveiled the newly-renovated space, which aims to encourage healthy food choices and provide a welcoming environment separate from the clinical setting of the hospital.

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City Hospital, described it as “a hub to enhance the health and wellbeing of everyone”.

Joel Harrison, the chief finance officer for the trust, said: “It’s great to have a new restaurant that is modern and vibrant and has been designed with the needs of patients, visitors and staff in mind."

The café has outdoor seating and features a menu to cater to a range of dietary preferences "ensuring there is something for everyone", the trust said.

Mr Harrison added: “It offers a wide range of cuisines to suit everyone’s tastes and our staff benefit from reduced prices. The restaurant has out-of-hours facilities so that people can get drinks and food at any time of day or night.

“In addition to the dining facilities, the restaurant offers pod-style meeting rooms that can be booked for staff meetings.

"The Wellspring restaurant is more than just a place to eat, it’s a hub designed to enhance the health and wellbeing of everyone who walks through its doors.”
