A 30-year-old man has been charged following clashes between protesters and police.

Unrest broke out in the city when far right protestors and a counter group gathered for demonstrations near Castle Park on 3 August.

Shane Dennis, of Knowle, was charged on Friday with a racially aggravated public order offence.

He was due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court earlier, Avon and Somerset Police said.

A total of 47 people have now been arrested as part of the investigation into the disorder. Of those, 34 have been charged. Seventeen people have already been sentenced.

Demonstrations took place across England after three young girls were killed in Southport, Merseyside, on 29 July.
