Man charged over crash that killed 18-year-old

A man has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving after a car left a Dorset road and killed an 18-year-old woman.

Laionie Kennard, who was from Verwood, died after the blue BMW 1 Series left Hurn Road, between Ringwood and Matchams, at about 21:30 BST on 16 September 2023.

The man, who is in his 20s and from Wiltshire, was arrested in connection with the incident, Dorset Police said. The force has not released his name.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on 20 December.

After Ms Kennard's death, her family said they could not "explain in words just how much she is going to be missed".

"She was the most kind, caring daughter and sister we could ever have wished for," they added.
