Police have made a fresh appeal for information after a teenager was left fighting for his life after a car failed to stop in a crash in Surrey.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash at a mini roundabout in Egerton Road, Guildford, near Joseph's Kebab Van, shortly after 21:00 BST on Sunday.

The driver of the car fled the scene in the direction of Park Barn, according to Surrey Police, whose officers are now searching for a grey vehicle.

Det Insp Kani Barawi said the force also believed there "may have been multiple people in the car at the time of the collision".

Det Insp Barawi added: "We need your help to find the driver and vehicle involved in a collision that has left a young man fighting for his life in hospital."

He said the vehicle involved in the crash would have significant damage to the front nearside and a smashed windscreen.

"So we are particularly appealing to anyone working at a local garage who might have had a vehicle brought in today with this level of damage to get in touch," he said.

Anyone who was in the area around Egerton Road, the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Tesco or Park Barn, or anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or helmet footage, is asked to contact police.
