Arrest after Roman wall 'significantly damaged'

A man has been arrested after "significant damage" was caused to a Roman wall in Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police said they received a report of damage to the ancient wall and gateway between the City Hall car parks, in Beaumont Fee, at 09:18 BST.

Following inquiries, police said they believed the incident happened shortly after midnight.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in custody, police added.
